Debbie Kent

SPORT: Women’s Fastpitch Softball – Pitching

Debbie came to the Lansing Laurels Women’s fast pitch team through their annual girl’s youth softball clinic in the spring of 1970. At the time she was 4 years old and entering her freshman year in high school. During the clinic, her pitching potential was noticed and she was asked to try out for the Laurels team. Debbie played with the team through the summer of 1979. She “peaked” as a pitcher during the 1973-1975 seasons as a 16-18 year old. She continued to be a strong factor in the Laurels success throughout the coming years even when hampered by an injury.

After her high school graduation, Debbie attended Lansing Community College (LCC) and was an outstanding pitcher for LCC’s women’s fast pitch team. Records from LCC are not available.

As the Laurels became stronger, Debbie’s pitching skills and variety of pitches grew and expanded as well. Debbie was a strong competitor and was selected to several All-Star teams, including Second Team All-American in the 1974 National Amateur Softball Tournament.
